SEMPRONIUS GALLERY OF FINE ART

SEMPRONIOUS GALLERY OF FINE ART....... actually i am not even sure that this IS the name we will use.......but for now it helps to say SOMETHING......

So far the Gallery Building Project is moving along nicely. The deposit is paid ..... the gallery is being built by the Amish and will be two stories....... approx 50 foot by 26 foot on the ground level with a Gambrel roof........ images and plans to follow.

The Building will begin in about 3 weeks once the wood is milled packaged and delivered....... Pine flooring Cedar Board and Batten........and Hemlock.....The centre posts will be organic as i want to have unmilled timber (aka trees) with bark attatched as the centre posts.

The health department have done their testing of the existing septics and the architect is meeting me onsite on Monday..... its all very busy but exciting and theres a lot of decisionmaking taxing my brain. The plan is to focus on connectedness and sustainability for artists..... with event management the backbone of the galleries function.

I will post more as i think what to say........ i did not paint this week as it turned out........ i am not sure i did THAT right ....but a girl can only spread herself so thin...................

BURDOCK and what i found out.

The burdock visible behind the lawn and in front of the maple thicket.

One of the main concerns i have with burdock is its seed pods sticking to the animals and the kids........ its quite a troublesome seed pod and difficut to remove from clothing and hair.....so in an effort to 'curb' the plant we have set about eliminating it from an area close to the house......

The idea being that it can have a foothold in other places but stay back from the house...... somehow i am thinking this might prove difficult........

EARTH DAY APRIL 22 ZAZZLE CARDS TO CELEBRATE

This was part of dinner the other night and the capsicum was such good quality and the tree inside so OBVIOUS i wanted to reord it for posterity and ended up wanting to use it to celebrate EARTH day..........SOMETIMES the most OBVIOUS reminder is in the joy of the everyday........

HIGHLAND GOLF COURSE GALA ART AUCTION AUBURN

Part of the events proceedings are donated to the ARC funraising efforts in Auburn New York. Here are some photos from Saturday night........ Patrick and I sold our artworks and met some very interesting people on the night. It was an educational event conducted by 'Marlin' auction house and I was left with the impression that ORIGINAL artworks were much more appealing than lithographs or giclees to the buying public in the area. The music was most fantastic and appropriate to the event with a soothing atmosphere..... we had fun!

PERMACULTURE AND DESIGN FOR LIVING

I have to admit living for such a long time in Australia kept me insular in some ways to the outside world...... but coming from rural australia i was inculcated with a belief in Permaculture and was most surprised it was NOT as widespread an idea as i had expected. One lives and learns...... I have always grown things vegetable gardens, herb gardens rose gardens, hay bale gardens school gardens kitchen gardens etc........ Young children LOVE to grow things and have an innate curiosity that can be challenged sufficiently to maintain a positive attitude ....It must be spring and with the 10 acres at our disposal now the time comes for a plan of action .... a 5 year plan and time to learn and grow and increase our families sustainability.

What is Permaculture?

Permaculture (permanent agriculture) is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. It is the harmonious integration of landscape and people providing their food, energy, shelter, and other material and non-material needs in a sustainable way. Without permanent agriculture there is no possibility of a stable social order.
Permaculture design is a system of assembling conceptual, material, and strategic components in a pattern which functions to benefit life in all its forms.
The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them; and allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolutions.
